Wow, Amazon has a new look! I rather like it. Being able to see the contents of your cart while shopping is something I’ve wanted for a while, and now, voila!
I’m also dying to get my hands on the new Kindle Fire. I’ve been using Kindle for Mac to read ebooks, plus Adobe Digital Editions (for NetGalley books). I do not care for Adobe Digital Editions. I crave the simplicity and the easy-on-the-eyes format of the Kindle.
But for now, I’m sticking to dead-tree books. I really love Amazon, btw. It is one of those very few websites that I’ve used since the 1990s and can see using forever.
Hey you. The Kindle Fire won’t be as easy on the eyes as a regular Kindle because of the back lighting.
Of course, I haven’t actually seen it but according to others “in the know”, the regular Kindles (which I have) uses e-ink technology which is just like reading print on paper.
I didn’t know this! Thanks De. I was actually a little worried about that because I’ve heard people compare the Fire to the iPad, and the iPad is notoriously bad on the eyes. So I’ll revise my plan.
BTW, can you read in the dark? Does it hurt your eyes?
Yeah, Amazon has done an amazing job. It’s interesting that Jeff Bezos didn’t start out to sell books online…he started out to sell *something* on-line, and after analyzing several industries decided that books would be good for starters.
BTW, did you ever hear the story about how Bezos chose a wife?

Bezos said that one of his wife-selection criteria was: “is she clever enough to figure out how to get me out of jail in some small tropical country if I were to wind up there?”
I think this was before he started Amazon…he would up marrying a writer, MacKenzie. I’ve read her novel The Testing of Luther Albright, which I thought was pretty good.
Hahahha! That’s a great criterion for a wife. I’ve never heard of her novel; I’ll have to look it up.
